JV Head Coach/Wide Receivers - Co - Passing Coordinator

Coach Coach Calvin Gibson 

Calvin Gibson is entering his 5th season as an assistant varsity football coach. Gibson will serve as the wide receivers coach as well as the Head JV football coach. Gibson is also the Head Track & Field Coach (2018 State Champions). Prior to Dutchtown, Coach Gibson served two seasons at Shorter (Ga.) University, an NCAA Division II member of the Gulf South Conference (GSC). In his first season (2011), Gibson served as the quarterbacks’ graduate assistant, and the second season as the wide receivers coach (2012).  During his time at Shorter, Gibson conducted all position meetings, executed practice plans based on the week’s game plan, assisted the offensive coordinator with the passing game on game days and broke down film. Upon completion of Graduate School, Gibson took his talents to Capital (OH) University, an NCAA Division III of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). While at Capital, Gibson served in a number of roles including wide receivers coach, kickoff and punt returners coach as well as lead kickoff return coach (2013). From (2014-2015) Gibson was given more responsibilities including video coordinator, travel operations and Big Brother Program organizer. During his time at Capital, Gibson mentored two All-OAC wide receivers and one kick returner. Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Gibson is a part of the first graduating class in Dutchtown history, the class of 2007. While at Dutchtown, Gibson was a standout athlete in both football and track. Upon graduation, Gibson received a dual-scholarship to Shorter University in both football and track as a quarterback, sprinter and jumper (100m, 200m, Long Jump and Triple Jump). A four-year member of both teams, Gibson was a part of the 2008 Mid-South Conference football championship team where he played both quarterback and wide receiver before moving to wide receiver full-time in 2009.  As a member of the track team, Gibson assisted the track team to four-straight outdoor conference titles (2008-2011) and two National Championships (2010 NAIA Indoor National Champions & 2011 NAIA Outdoor National Champions). Gibson graduated with a bachelor’s in media studies from Shorter in 2011. He earned his master’s in leadership from Shorter in May 2013.

Wide Receivers Coach

Coach Richard Brimm is a 2010 graduate from Cairo High School where is played both varsity football and Baseball for four years. After completing High School Coach Brimm enrolled in Albany State University where he played defense as a safety on the ASU Football team. Coach Brimm graduated from Albany State University in 2014 and began teaching and coaching in the Grady County School System where he coached both varsity Baseball and Football for five years. He received his Master Degree in Athletic Coaching at Northcentral University in 2018. He currently teaches Physical Education at Oakland Elementary. School in Henry County

Outside Linebacker Coach

Coach Deandre Montgomery is originally from Miami, Florida. Coach Montgomery is a graduate of 2015 at Dutchtown High School. Coach Montgomery went on to play Miami-Ohio University. Coach Montgomery played CFL ball for Ottawa Redblacks.

Coach Montgomery began his Coaching career here at Dutchtown in 2020 as a Community Coach working with the Outside Linebackers. 


Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Carey Scott is orginally from Savannah, Georgia. Coach Scott is a graduate of Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia. Coach Scott played football, and participated in Track & Field. After high school Coach Scott was awarded a full scholarship to Kentucky State University. While at Kentucky State Coach Scott, played football and ran track. Coach Scott was a two time All-American in track and football. As a senior in college, Coach Scott was rated the number 20th cornerback in the nation. Coach Scott was awarded an Invitation to play in the East/West Shrine game and invited to the NFL combine in Indianapolis. Coach Scott was the only HBCU player selected to play in the All Star game, and the only Division 2 player invited to the NFL Combine that year. Coach Scott was inducted into the Kentucky State University Hall Of Fame in 2007, as the youngest inductee in school history. Coach Scott was drafted in 2001 by the Minnesota Vikings and retired in 2004 while playing with the Oakland Raiders. 

Coach Scott graduated in 2001 from Kentucky State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Coach Scott just recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Special Education from The University of West Georgia in 2020.  


Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Demarcus Sellers is a proud father who is originally from Pensacola, Florida. He has been coaching youth and high school sports consisting of football, basketball, and wrestling for 8 years at all age levels. Coach Sellers Philosophy is to provide an opportunity for each student-athlete to challenge themselves every day, and to learn life lessons that will optimize their overall development. Build lifelong relationships and graduate all student-athletes to the next grade level, making a positive impact which will lead to success.

Coach Sellers was a two-sport student-athlete, and an All-Area Defensive Back in high school. Following high school, he furthered his education as a student-athlete in football at Florida A&M University.


Defensive Line Coach

Coach Melvin Pearson is a native Riverdale, Georgia. Graduated from Jonesboro High in 1970. Coach Pearson joined the Army on September 8, 1970. Served in the Army for a year and a half. Then joined the Army Reserved in June of 1972 until October 1997. Coach Pearson moved up the Ranks to become a Master Sergeant E-8. Coach Pearson began Coaching in September 1972 at Riverdale Park Youth League Program. Coach Pearson started Coaching high school football at his alma mater Jonesboro High School as a Community Coach in 2001 until 2010. Coach Pearson worked with the Offensive Line and Defensive Line. In 2011 Coach Pearson began Coaching at Dutchtown High School until present, working with the Defensive Line.  

Coach Pearson has 6 Children: Pam,  Kelly, Bobbie, Melvin Jr, Mary, Danielle, and 16 Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Grands
